DayLink® Monitor
The DayLink Monitor is a preventive measure that allows participants to receive the care and guidance they need on a daily basis, which helps reduce unnecessary utilization of healthcare services, lower healthcare costs and improve workplace productivity. Typically, the monitor is used for higher-acuity participants in Alere’s Disease Management Program.
The monitor is a biometric measurement device that records a participant's weight and answers to pre-programmed questions regarding symptoms of the chronic condition or co-morbidities that Alere may be monitoring. The participant’s health information is then sent daily via a phone line to Alere’s clinicians, which allows them to provide immediate guidance and/or alert the participant’s physician if the symptoms require immediate attention.
How the Device Works
With an easy-to-use interactive display and communications appliance, the monitor is accurate to 1/10th of a pound, and its scale platform is similar in size to a standard bathroom scale. The device has been designed to sit on any flat surface, including carpet. To use the DayLink Monitor, a participant merely steps onto the platform to activate the device.
After a participant's weight has been captured, the monitor asks physician-specified questions about the participant's symptoms via an audible voice and visual display. The participant answers the questions by pressing YES or NO keys. Accurate measurements and participant responses are automatically delivered to Alere’s clinicians for daily review. The DayLink Monitor is available in English, Spanish and Braille.
