Musculoskeletal and Pain (MSP)

The Musculoskeletal and Pain (MSP) Program is designed to help participants who either have or may be at risk of developing a pain condition that could result in high costs and reduced productivity. The program includes targeted interventions for neck, upper and lower back pain, rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, migraine and tension headaches, and regional musculoskeletal disorders.

Alere has enhanced the program to address escalating costs and the wide gaps in quality care.

Through the MSP Program interventions, participants receive education that encourages the use of appropriate healthcare services and focuses on improvement of their ability to function. Incorporation of telephonic, online pain management tools and educational materials maximizes the impact of the interventions. Alere’s clinicians account for all key participant risk factors, assist in controlling symptoms and help participants improve their overall quality of life. The result is reduced utilization, improved clinical outcomes and improved productivity measures.

Enhanced Program

To address escalating costs and the wide gaps of quality care in this diverse population, Alere recently enhanced its MSP program to better manage the overuse, underuse, and misuse of medical services associated with musculoskeletal pain conditions.

Additions to the program include interventions that not only improve and maintain appropriate care but also maintain and improve function and focus on prevention and ergonomics. Alere has augmented the psychosocial assessment and intervention and enhanced its ability to clarify symptoms and facilitate shared decision-making with providers.

Another new highlight of the program is the Online Pain Management Program, which supplements and complements telephonic support, and includes a new interactive pain diagram for participants to fully understand how to manage pain.
